The Role
Our Controller will assist with Electric Capital’s financial reporting, portfolio tracking, and treasury management. This role will also provide support to the Investor Relations and Operations departments.
You will work directly with Electric’s VP of Finance and existing Controller, and will have broad exposure to many aspects of the firm and its operations. You will be critical to a variety of finance-related projects and firmwide objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the production and review of financial reporting and audit activities, including:
- Collecting and providing financial information to our Fund Administrator for quarterly financial reporting.
- Assisting with annual audits by managing auditor information requests, drafting footnotes, and requesting information from our Fund Administrator.
- Assisting with annual K-1 reporting and tax return information requests.
- Working with Accountants to review and submit annual 1099 reporting.
- Monitoring different funds’ finances and investments, including tracking investment information and valuation updates within our proprietary portfolio database.
- Completing firm operations and finance activities, such as:
- Managing billing and cash receipts processes.
- Monitoring expenses and suggesting productivity improvements and/or expense saving initiatives.
- Working with the VP of Finance to develop an annual budget and plan.
- Building Relationships with Limited Partners (LPs), including:
- Preparing inbound audit confirmations from LP audit firms
- Assisting with ad hoc LP financial information requests

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years of partnership accounting
- CFA/CPA or equivalent highly preferred
- Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills
- Flexible, collaborative, and proactive: a team member who can positively and productively work on projects with minimal supervision.
- Excellent Excel skills
